ScriptPad Motivation and More For 2012

Over the past week I’ve read a few year-end reflective stories and 2011 top 10 lists. Some good, some not, but as my friend John Laramie, ADstruc CEO, said in his most recent post, “I’m focused on 2012.” And we couldn’t agree more.

Relaxing with family back east a few weeks ago I got to thinking, “it’s been a pretty big year for ScriptPad. We launched in the Apple App store last March, expanded our team, and have worked tirelessly on our craft. Our user base is solid and ever-growing, we released many improved features and functionalities, we launched PracticeLink, our solution to meaningful data interoperability, and we reached a big milestone in December by developing our API.” As I reflected on this, an old wrestling saying popped into my head, “days off are days spent not getting better.” This got me thinking about the collegiate wrestling season currently underway. Looking for a little motivation I found the video above, and it struck a chord. Not only are the images inspiring (at least for the wrestling community anyway), but for certain the words transcend beyond athletics. It was a reminder as to why those seasons ruled my holidays for so many years…if I wanted to achieve my goals there was simply no other way. It was a reminder to never think within the bounds of realism. A reminder that acting on our core beliefs every single day matters. Finally, it was a reminder that at the end of the day there is no secret equation for success. Only the belief that when “you put in the hours and time every single day, it adds up to being something extraordinary that you can live up to” (well said, motivational video).

At ScriptPad we believe in our ability to alter and improve the eprescribing landscape. We’re proud of what we’ve built, but we’re far from satisfied. It has always been our goal to provide the best eprescribing experience on the market and in 2012 that is our aim. We’re excited to be launching some great new features to our workflow in the coming months including sending multiple scripts and tapered dosing. We’ll also be rounding out our platform offering as a whole. We’re incredibly excited about the potential of this year, but it won’t come overnight and you can be sure we’ll continue to put in the time and act on our core beliefs every single day. In 2012 we hope you “do everything in your power to be legendary.” I know we will.

To learn more about us come check us out on our website or sign up for a free ePrescribing account here, it’s easy.

Cheers to an awesome 2012 full of hard work!

New Release: ePrescribe Multiple Prescriptions at Once

We’ve just released a new version of ScriptPad, and it’s available for update now on the App Store. Providers now have the ability to eprescribe multiple prescriptions for the same patient and submit them to the pharmacy all in one transaction.

This new workflow provides physicians with a faster and more seamless experience when caring for their patients by not having to go back through the same steps in order to send multiple scripts. Physicians can add, edit, delete and confirm the scripts all within the same intuitive e-prescribing framework.

Here’s Mat, our Lead Developer, to provide a more detailed video overview of how to e-prescribe multiple scripts.

More Improvements and Fixes:
- Sign in to your registered account from within the app
- Many bug fixes and performance enhancements

What We’re Working On:
- Tapered Dosing with a special dose selector
- Ability to print your script histories via our website
- Enhancing our registration to accomodate physicians who have not been issued DEA numbers, as well as midlevels in certain states whose scripts must be issued under the authority of a supervising physician

We’re excited about the feedback we’ve been getting on this latest improvement and we’d love to hear from you too. If you have any feedback on how we can do better or a feature you would like to have, let us know:

The Impending Holiday Debauchery & The Single Best Thing You Can Do

The ScriptPad team will be traveling to our respective holiday family destinations in the coming week, and, at least for me, that means one thing…FOOOOD and lots of it (I think my mother tries to make up for lost time since I’ve been out of the nest).

Luckily, I came across this great video illustration from Dr. Mike Evans who explains to us by way of some great statistics that the single best treatment we can give ourselves this holiday season, and always, is exercise. He challenges us to limit our sitting and sleeping to 23.5 hours out of the day ;) . Not only is this short video well worth the watch, it doesn’t hurt at all from a comedic standpoint that Dr. Mike, who, by the way, is the founder of the Health Design Lab at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, an Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Public Health at the University of Toronto, and a staff physician at St. Michael’s Hospital, awesomely and uncannily sounds like Bill Murray’s character Carl Spackler, the gopher killing greens keeper in CaddyShack. You may not be as big off the tee as the Dali Lama, but I’m sure Dr. Mike would approve of hitting the links this holiday season. Small bites of exercise is what he is prescribing so whether that’s a round of golf, a short family bike ride, or parking your car a little farther from the toy store, it doesn’t matter. And when you put it into that perspective, it’s not so bad. Even if golf isn’t your game, I think the main point is consistency. So embrace Spackler’s gopher hunting tenacity, and get after it this holiday season.

And, if Dr. Mike’s inspiration isn’t quite enough, then you might want to check out some fun fitness tech companies that aim to keep you svelte like DailyBurn, a former TechStars team, who recently relaunched their service, or healthcare incubator, Rock Health’s newest batch of graduates, with companies like BitGym, Skimble, WeSprout and more.

We hope you have a happy and healthy holiday and an awesome start to the new year!

Introducing PracticeLink – Import Patient Data in Real Time

Experience A Better Way To ePrescribe

The digital age of healthcare is upon us no doubt, and therefore it’s our imperative as healthcare technologists to enable medical professionals to more effectively and efficiently care for their patients; you and I! One of the large bottlenecks in the evolution of electronic healthcare has been, and remains, data interoperability – one system “talking” to another. As evidence of the need for a solution, the government launched the Direct Project in March of last year as a “standards-based way for participants to send authenticated, encrypted health information…over the internet.” And HL7, or Health Level 7, is another health standards data protocol that has been around since the mid 90′s, but the tipping point for these standards has not yet come, and as a physician in today’s demanding healthcare world, smart and cost-effective system connectivity is a critical component.

ScriptPad is pleased to announce SCRIPTPAD PRACTICELINK, our solution to solving the data connectivity problem within eprescribing.

Check out our one-minute demo…

ABOUT PRACTICELINK
ScriptPad PracticeLink is a software upgrade for our free ePrescribing App. PracticeLink directly integrates with virtually any Practice Management System to automatically import your patient data in real-time to your ScriptPad App. No more manual typing of patient data, thereby stream-lining your workflow and enabling you to eprescribe faster. PracticeLink also gives you the ability to share patients between all ScriptPad Prescribers within your practice. There is no custom setup required, PracticeLink is not an HL7 interface, and all data is 100% encrypted and HIPAA compliant end-to-end.

NOTE: Our free ScriptPad ePrescribing service remains unchanged and is core to who we are. We will always continue to improve our App, and strive to provide the best prescribing experience possible.

YOUR PRE-RELEASE OFFER
PracticeLink will be for sale coming in early December. For the Pre-Release we’d like to offer the prescriber community the opportunity to reserve the special, pre-sale price as well as a one month free trial of Practice Link by signing up on our website HERE!.

Lastly, we’d love to hear your feedback about PracticeLink by leaving a comment below, emailing us at support @ scriptpad.net, or chatting with us live on our website. We’re dedicated to providing you with the best eprescribing experience possible, and we think PracticeLink is another step in the right direction. Let us know what you think!

Adam

New e-Prescribing Features: Favorite Drugs, Dispensing Containers & More

We’re pleased to announce that a new and improved version of ScriptPad for the iPhone and iPad is available now in the App Store. It’s a bigger one, but this release is a direct result of the feedback and suggestions from our ScriptPad physician community, of whom we’re incredibly proud to serve.

I’ve enlisted the help of our Lead Developer, Mat, to step-through and explain the some key features in the videos below.

Favorites Organization

Favorites are much more flexible and can now be categorized based on your specific needs resulting in quicker search

Quick Patient Add

This is the fastest way that you can manually add a patient: First Name, Last Name, DOB, that’s it.

Full Text Pharmacy Search

We’ve added a completely flexible, full text pharmacy search to accompany the current pharmacy search methods via Favorites, Near Patient, and Near You.

Dispensing Containers

Calling all ophthalmologists, ENT’s, ObGyn’s and the like, we’ve gotten much better at providing the dispensing instructions to the pharmacist for non-oral medications. Check it out!

The First Is In Gratitude

Horray for our first blog post! We’re excited, and we couldn’t think of a more perfect way to kick it off than by simply saying thank you. So thank you to all who have supported and believed in us since our time starting at TechStars a little over a year ago. To our families, friends, investors and customers, we wouldn’t be were we are today without you.

To that end, if you’d like to see a little of that beginning, we invite you to watch our TechStars Demo Day pitch from last year. NOTE – The password is – boulderdemoday2010-sp

John F. Kennedy once said, “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” Well said indeed, and the best way we know how to live into our words of thanks is to strive each day to provide the best, mobile ePrescribing solution on the market through intuitive physician workflow and technology that facilitates better patient care, not hinders it.

We recently launched our free iPad app and have been working hard to timely deploy the top features and functionality that our doctor customers have requested. We’re also working on a solution that we think is pretty slick concerning interoperability, a large problem that has long loomed in the healthcare industry, so stay tuned!

We’re excited to engage and collaborate with doctors and patients alike through our blog, and we’d love to hear from you.

In Gratitude,
Team ScriptPad
